    Key purpose of role

    To drive revenue growth by managing and expanding relationships with media agencies and their clients. The Agency Sales Account Executive is responsible for identifying commercial opportunities, selling advertising solutions across the company’s media platforms, and delivering exceptional client service. This role ensures campaign success through strategic planning, proposal development, and post-campaign analysis, contributing to the company’s market share, brand strength, and client satisfaction.

    Key performance areas

    Revenue generation and sales growth:
    • Achieve individual and team revenue targets by selling advertising solutions to media agencies and their clients.
    • Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities across platforms (radio, digital, events, branded content).
    • Achieving and exceeding set sales targets, across new, lost, and existing customer accounts.
    • Driving revenue growth through pro-active client engagement and strategic sales initiatives.
    • Monitoring and improving conversion rates to maximize sales opportunities.
    Agency and client relationship management:
    • Build, maintain, and grow strategic relationships with key agency personnel and brand decision-makers.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for day-to-day campaign-related communication and problem-solving.
    • Customer satisfaction and retention
    • Handling client concerns and resolving issues timeously
    • Understanding and effectively communicating product/service benefits
    • Customizing solutions to meet clients’ needs
    • Staying updated on industry trends and competitor analysis
    Strategic sales planning and proposal development:
    • Develop tailored proposals and pitches that meet client objectives and align with media platform strengths.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (content, marketing, strategy, CS) to package compelling commercial solutions.
    • Effective pipeline and territory management (assessed through CRM usage, forecasting accuracy, etc.)
    • Stay informed about industry trends, agency structures, client developments, and competitor activity.
    • Provide internal insights that help refine product offerings and positioning
    Internal processes and compliance:
    • Maintaining accuracy in sales reporting
    • Timely follow-ups and closing deals efficiently
    • Adherence to compliant business practices.
    • Ensure smooth implementation of campaigns from briefing to billing.
    • Monitor performance and deliverables to ensure client satisfaction and post-campaign reporting.
    Organizational capacity:
    • Working cohesively with internal teams
    • Providing feedback for continuous improvement
    • Contributing to team goals and initiatives through effective stake holder management and collaboration. (sales team, leadership team, operations, trade marketing, stations, finance/prizes etc.)


    Minimum required qualification:
    • Matric
    • Sales skills, negotiation and presentation skills courses
    Qualifications considered advantageous:
    • Bachelors degree
    • Proven track record of working with big agencies (+5 years)
    • Selling on digital platforms would be advantageous
    Minimum years of experience:
    • 6-8 years of experience in media sales
    Additional role requirements:
    • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client and agency meetings as needed.
    • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets, ideally within the broadcasting, media, or advertising industry.
    • Strong understanding of media planning and buying cycles, with the ability to tailor solutions to agency and client needs.
    • Working knowledge of advertising campaign lifecycles, including briefing, proposal development, booking, delivery, and post-campaign reporting.
    • Excellent relationship-building and client service skills, with a professional and solutions-oriented approach.
    • Strong presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to confidently sell across multiple platforms (e.g. radio, digital, activations).
    • Ability to analyse audience and campaign performance data to inform proposals and demonstrate ROI to clients.
    • Attention to detail and organisational skills, ensuring campaigns are delivered accurately and on time.
    • Team player with strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work with internal departments such as traffic, marketing, and content.
    • Commercial acumen and initiative, with a passion for finding and converting new business opportunities.
    • Ability to manage multiple client portfolios and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Working knowledge of CRM systems and sales reporting tools is advantageous.
