Technology Architect

Our client is seeking an experienced Technology Data Architect to lead the design, governance, and evolution of enterprise-grade data platforms within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. This is a strategic role responsible for shaping cloud-native data architectures that enable secure, scalable, and high-performing data solutions while supporting business growth, innovation, and regulatory compliance
Working closely with the Enterprise Solutions Architect and cross-functional technology teams, you will drive data modernisation initiatives, champion best practices in cloud architecture, and deliver robust data platforms that power analytics and business intelligence across the organisation.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement enterprise-scale data platforms using Microsoft Azure technologies including Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, PySpark Notebooks, and Dataverse
• Design secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud-native data architectures
• Lead the migration of legacy data environments to modern Azure-based platforms
• Establish data modelling standards across conceptual, logical, and physical data models
• Define and govern data lifecycle, security, metadata, lineage, and compliance in line with POPIA and GDPR requirements
• Enable enterprise reporting and analytics through Power BI, Azure Analysis Services, and Azure Machine Learning
• Provide architectural guidance for data-driven applications and enterprise integrations across Microsoft technologies
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Azure Data Factory, and automated data workflows
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to align technology with strategic objectives

Qualifications and experience:

• Relevant degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or a related field.
• 7+ years of Enterprise Data Architecture experience, with expertise in Azure SQL, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake.
• 5+ years of experience within the Insurance industry.
• Proven experience designing and implementing Azure-based cloud and hybrid data solutions using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, data integration, and enterprise data management using Cosmos DB and Dataverse.
• Experience developing reporting and analytics solutions using Power BI.
• Solid understanding of data governance, security, POPIA, GDPR, and regulatory compliance requirements.
