Zim govt backtracks on party ads
Zanu PF party leaders have ordered Zimbabwean Information Minister Jonathan Moyo to withdraw primetime TV adverts that showed Morgan Tsvangirai warning President Mugabe to step down or risk violent overthrow. The Standard reports that sources close to the government's Department of Information and Publicity felt that the ads were having an opposite effect to that intended and were actually helping to popularise the opposition leader.
