In honour of the legacy of former President Nelson Mandela, the Baywest Mall has partnered with the Leva Foundation and six of its coffee shop and restaurant tenants to fund the Red Band Barista Academy. The Red Band Barista Academy provides unemployed people with the required training and skills to find employment in the professional coffee industry.
Melissa's, Vida e Caffè, Wimpy, John Dory's, Panarottis, and Biloxi Spur at Baywest Mall will donate the cost of a cup of coffee for every two coffees sold.
The Leva Foundation has trained 78 baristas to date with 90% of them going on to find gainful employment - some at Baywest Mall coffee shops.
