Econet Media has obtained government licencing for content distribution, webcasting and Video-on-Demand (VoD) services in the country under its Econet Media unit.
Kwesé TV, the satellite television service will compete directly with MultiChoice Zimbabwe.
A statement from Econet Media said, “Take notice that Econet Media has been awarded a Broadcasting Service Licence by the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe in terms of Section 10 of the Broadcasting Services Act.”
To recall, Kwesé TV is a satellite TV service which offers African audiences free viewing to a curated sports, news and general entertainment bouquet of 15 channels.
