South Africa's Institute of Marketing Management has joined forces with Zambia's Institute of Marketing, Marketers Association of Zimbabwe and Marketing Society of Kenya to launch the African Marketing Confederation in the aim of promoting and maintaining standards of professional skills, ability, ethics and integrity among marketers through the various African marketing bodies.

The Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) released results for both A-level and O-level in May 2009, rather than in February. Due to the delays, students were admitted into A-level using mid-year school examination results, or school assessments. But most lost their A-level places after failing.
