Our client is seeking a highly organised, detail-driven Insurance claims operations consultant with underwriting knowledge to join their dynamic team in the Cape Winelands. This multifaceted role combines the responsibilities of a broker consultant, claims administrator, and underwriting support, ensuring the seamless execution of operational processes, claims handling, underwriting requirements, and high-touch client servicing. The ideal candidate will be proactive, technologically adept (ideally experienced in platforms such as Monday.com), and thrive in a client-facing role within a fast-paced financial advisory and insurance environment. Key responsibilities: Operational and Administrative and underwriting support- Manage and maintain internal client databases and documentation systems
- Prepare, update, and follow up on policy documentation including renewals, endorsements, and amendments
- Conduct policy needs analyses and generate comparisons and proposal documents for new and existing clients
- Assist in pre-underwriting processes by gathering medicals, financials, and client declarations
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, application requirements, and disclosure standards
- Review documentation for completeness and submit to insurers or underwriting departments
Claims Administration- Administer end-to-end claims processing: registration, document collation, claim form submissions, and status updates
- Liaise with insurers, clients, and relevant stakeholders to ensure swift and accurate claims resolution
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding documentation and claims progress
- Provide status reports to clients and maintain transparent communication throughout the claims process
- Escalate complex claims issues where required while ensuring turnaround times are met
Client and Stakeholder engagement- Act as the central point of contact for clients, insurers, and internal teams
- Manage client communication including appointment setting, follow-ups, and general correspondence
- Maintain excellent client relations and support client onboarding and servicing activities
- Respond professionally and timeously to client queries via phone, email, and in-person engagements
- Support the complaints process and ensure a high level of service resolution
Qualifications and Skills and Experience:- Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent NQF4 qualification (RE5 or insurance-specific qualifications advantageous)
- Minimum of 5 years in insurance administration or similar client-facing support role
- Proven experience in claims handling and underwriting support (short- and long-term insurance)
- Clear credit and criminal record
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Afrikaans and English
- Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CRM/project management tools (e.g., Monday.com)
- Professional telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work under pressure
Additional requirements - Must reside in Cape Town, Paarl, or the Cape Winelands region
- Must be client-focused, service-oriented, and solutions-driven
- Able to adapt to changing priorities and multitask effectively
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English (spoken and written)
