The submission and judging process is strategically structured to acknowledge the success of all sized law firms and solo practitioners, and specifically distinguishes between firms that have 30 partners or more, and others.

The judging process is initially open to all lawyers as a peer review, and then a three judge panel per Gavel. Judges are seasoned legal, corporate or media professionals with direct experience in the practice area they are judging. The 2014 Gavels will be awarded at a black tie event on 15 February 2014. In total, 106 Gavels will be awarded.

The 2014 Gavels committee is now accepting submissions for exceptional legal work done in the 2012-2013 season. Submission forms can be obtained at www.TheGavels.co.za; the closing date is 15 November 2013.
