Daisy daisy... I'm half crazy all for the love of you

Rocking the Daisies; pretty scenery, cold windy nights, sunny days, cramped camping, noisy neighbours, random drunkards, eco hippies, hay bales, lilo's, oh yes and some music.

The Dirty Skirts

Banished to the general camping area (no VIP treatment this year) as we were a larger group this time round, we had to rough it even more so and make do with getting very well acquainted with our neighbours. Yes Mr Wara Wara I am talking about you and your cement-mixer-gargling-bolts- snoring that sounded like it was coming from someone in the same sleeping bag as me. But that was probably a mistake on my side. Trying to get some shut eye at RTD is like trying to fish using dental floss and a paper clip as a rod. And really, one doesn't need to sleep as there is enough entertainment options on to keep you happy and clapping like you know it throughout the whole night. Non-VIP camping also allowed me to overhear the most awesome of awesome pick-up lines delivered by one of our neighbours, that went a little like this, ahem... "I want to Google map your mouth". Bands, artists and highlights worth a mention (and unfortunately I didn't get to see as many bands as I would have liked - there was always just too much going on) include The Dirty Skirts for the introduction to a whole bunch of new material, much darker, much edgier, I'm liking it; UK band New Young Pony Club for being our foreign headliner and being all girl power and awesomely dancey; getting a free manicure and pretty face sparkles at the ladies only Daisy Den; real live two thirds of a human centipede spotted in the dam; the José Cuervo deck and their scrumptious free Margarita's; Rob Van Vuuren for his freak-out-the-stoned-hippies stand up at Best of the Fest at the Lemon Tree Theatre; the Cuervo Nu-World Beat Barn for something a little bit different. Ready D for taking us back to those old school, high school hip hop days in the Red Bull Electro Tent. Boo! for Chameleon's piercing falsettos and head flicks. Springbok Nude Girls for reuniting for a special performance, that even though was a little shaky in some parts, made up for by guesting Ard Matthews, Taxi Violence's front man George Van de Spuy and Cassette's Jon Savage for the last few songs.

And amongst all that funness, the BizLounge team managed to find time to take pics of some of the lovely daisy people for a competition that offers the chance of those photographed by us, while wearing one of our cute stickers, to win some great SA band merchandise. Were you there? Were you spotted? If so, head to our Facebook gallery and tag and comment on your pic to enter. And if not go there anyway there's lots of pretty people to look at.

Overheard at Rocking the Daisies

Man in neighbouring tent surrounded by giggling girls: "Hello. You want to come in for some pasta? (pause) FUUUCK OFF!!!!! There's no pasta here, just go home".

One of the giggling girls singing the whole of Jon Bonjovi's Bed of Roses (badly).

Girl in neighbouring tent "No Dan it's you, you really smell every time you walk past me I smell it"

Mr Wara Wara punctuating every comment with WARA WARA eg. "We must cook the boerrie now, WARA WARA"

Random guy: "Marco!"
Random guy in different vicinity "Polo!"
