Terraplane flies home with 9 Loeries

Terraplane raked in 1 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze birds at the Loeries this year, had a surf lesson and a great party to boot.

Trevor Clarence's SABC Audience Services campaign for TBWA Hunt Lascaris received gold, 2 silvers and a bronze proving that he's not just a crazy monkey, but an all round funny guy. Done on a shoestring the campaign relied heavily on performance, dialogue and perfect comic timing and these awards prove he's the man for the job.

Adrian de sa Garces Cell C Coverage spot for Net#work BBDO, that started it's life as promotional spot for Film South Africa's "South Africa Exposed", pulled in 2 silver and 2 bronze birds, one of the silvers being for direction. This is a significant achievement for a designer who has been directing for two years and considering the exceptional competition one for which he can be truly proud.

One of Terraplane's newest directors Nicholas Hester received a bronze bird for the Sony "Bubbles" spot he did for TBWA in Singapore, the South African judges agreeing with the Asian judges at Afest in Thailand earlier this year.

Although the wave conditions were pretty awful and most people where too hungover to stand on the ground, let alone a surfboard, some brave people did try their feet at surfing, with a particularly impressive show by the babes from TBWA Durban. Next year the surf "skool" will be bigger and better and spread out over the whole weekend to take advantage of the times when conditions are good and people are most likely to float.
