TSIBA Business School as a new home

From humble beginnings in a blanket factory in Mowbray (2004-2005) to an outdated training facility in Pinelands (2006-2019), TSIBA will be moving into new premises in January 2020; premises that will serve as a first-class and aspirational educational establishment for its students.
TSIBA Business School as a new home

The TSIBA Campus, called TSIBA House, will be located near Woodstock's vibey business district, but in the relatively quiet and self-contained panhandle housed between Treaty Road and Spring Street. The campus grounds boast the Peace Tree, a 500-year-old white milkwood tree under which a peace treaty was signed on January 10, 1806, after the Battle of Blaauwberg.

Established in 2004 as TSIBA Education NPC, TSIBA is a unique social enterprise that has invested successfully in providing access to quality business education to ambitious young people. Encompassing an accredited Business School, Ignition Academy and an Education Trust, TSIBA develops highly sought-after graduates and successful small business enterprises. TSIBA is passionate about the transformative impact of education as a catalyst to unlock the best of what people can be.

Since inception TSIBA awarded over 5,000 annual tuition scholarships to students who otherwise would not have gained access to tertiary education, and graduated hundreds of students with its unique and innovative Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurial Leadership Degree. In addition, TSIBA boasts eight Mandela Rhodes Scholars and three Kofi Annan Fellows amongst its graduates, all of whom have progressed to postgraduate studies in Africa and in Europe.

TSIBA Business School's return on investment also includes over 90% of graduates directly entering employment after completing their studies. More recently, the TSIBA Ignition Academy (TIA) has actively stepped into education opportunities for small business entities and entrepreneurially minded young people from NQF Level 4 through to postgraduate studies at NQF Level 8.

In a statement about this move, TSIBA Business School CEO Professor Kobus Visser expressed his excitement about moving to a facility "which will enable us to compellingly improve the quality of our offering to our students, and is a game-changer for TSIBA, and for the way business education can be done in the current context." The location of the campus is also conveniently positioned in a community which is well served by the Woodstock and Esplanade railway stations and is crisscrossed by major bus and taxi routes as well as cycle paths, making access easy, affordable and safe.

TSIBA House will have a total usable space of 2,796m² on four floors and will be completely configured for purpose. It has an efficient combination of large student learning areas intermingled with a number of smaller breakaways, staff offices and meeting and conference rooms, conveniently connected by an extra-wide staircase. A large separate student recreation annex and a hip coffee shop allow for social interaction between students, staff and visitors. Last but not least, the top floors boast beautiful views of Devil's Peak and Table Mountain. Unusually for premises in Woodstock, the building boasts more than enough parking space for our use. All in all, the building, the grounds and the location are conducive to a unique campus vibe within a bustling, up-and-coming city and diverse Woodstock environment.

In alignment to its education and broader purpose, TSIBA House will offer modern conference facilities, and a business incubation hub (The Garage), which has long been established to enable entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses and create employment.
