NetOne strikes roaming deal with MTN

State-owned mobile telephone operator, NetOne has struck a deal with South Africa's MTN to ensure that customers from Zimbabwe can access roaming facilities when visiting the country.

NetOne managing director, Rewards Kangai said the move will ensure that NetOne subscribers do not necessarily have to buy new lines when visiting South Africa.

"NetOne subscribers can now use their Easycall lines seamlessly across the Limpopo in MTN," he said.

Roaming is the practice where mobile telephone operators can connect their customers in other countries without buying new sim cards to stay connected.

NetOne joins the roaming family after Econet and Telecel already penetrated the region in striking roaming deals. The company has been trying to push its subscriber base by introducing a number of products such as free calls among its customers.
