These include issues surrounding visa/immigration and unabridged birth certificates, where the association under the leadership of Kucera, have been actively engaging with the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) and other industry partners to resolve concerns surrounding this matter. It also includes the associations' involvement in the fight against the spread of the Ebola virus, as well as the xenophobic attacks which devastated South Africa, the energy crisis and its impact on the industry, etc.

In light of the xenophobic attacks, the FEDHASA Cape Board unanimously agreed to join the City of Cape Town Mayor, Patricia de Lille in the 'Inclusive City Campaign' and says no to racism initiative by including this clause in the association's code of conduct. The AGM saw members pledge their support of this initiative as they signed a plaque that will be handed over to the Mayor.

Kucera also reported that the FEDHASA National Board met with the newly appointed Minister of Tourism, Derek Hanekom where a number of points were discussed, including those relating to outstanding Government accounts owed to the hospitality industry.

Guest speaker and CEO of Wesgro Tim Harris shared his insights on how the Western Cape is being marketed, how events such as WTM Africa and other trade events add value to the local market, and how he envisages the hospitality industry that FEDHASA represents, collaborating with Wesgro in this regard.

The AGM also saw the election of the new board with two new board members namely, Noli Mini who was elected as Chairperson for the Youth Segment whilst Alan Lester has been elected as the Allied and Suppliers Chairperson.
