Guanomad is one of Madagascar's most innovative companies that produces and supplies natural fertilizers and organic manures from bat droppings in Madagascar's caves for use in organic agriculture.

"I am really pleased to receive this award from the African Leadership Network," Guanomad founder and CEO, Erick Rajaonary commented. "I did not know that there are people interested in what entrepreneurs in Africa are doing. It gives me great pleasure and encouragement to know that there are people across Africa, who share the same vision of a prosperous Africa as we do at Guanomad.

    Transforming lives

"We are not only interested in making profit. We know that if we are successful as a company, we will have an impact in promoting food security, creating jobs and transforming lives for especially Africa's youth. On behalf of the Guanomad team, we deeply appreciate this award as a gesture of encouragement from other entrepreneurs."

In its seventh year since establishment, AAE is today the most distinguished Africa-focused awards programme, that each year gives over USD200 000 prize money to outstanding African entrepreneurs who demonstrate business excellence and social impact. Omidyar Network, the investment firm dedicated to harnessing the power of markets to create opportunity for people to improve their lives, is sponsoring the awards for the fourth consecutive year.

Guanomad was selected from 12 finalists after a screening process focused on the soundness of the business model, financial health, integrity of business practices, and the contribution to socio-economic development by a panel of judges, consisting of five eminent business leaders.
