The furniture company took centre stage at the local Awards ceremony when the brand successfully won the Overall Master Apex category. The assessment consisted of four categories: Product Development, Process Design, System Design and Service Delivery. The company's expertise in manufacturing and distribution, mentorship, research and development and sustainability secured the Apex Award, handed to companies with less than R40 million turnover per annum.

Mandisa Ntlokosi marketing and communications director for Accenture South Africa says, "Innovation is crucial for our country's rise and fuel for its progress. Companies, which prize innovation, tend to be leaders in a range of best practice and the Accenture Innovation Index recognises and supports this. Now in its second year, the Index was inundated with hundreds of nominations from across the country.

"This year's event saw a number of strong contenders. After intensive panel interviews and meeting the index criteria checklists, it was evident that AngelShack has found its passion and does not settle for mediocrity. The local furniture producer continues to innovate and invest into R&D as the company leads the way by living the company ethos, 'to change the game'."

The event saw hundreds of top CEOs, senior management and delegates from leading local and international organisations visit the Country Club Johannesburg in Woodmead to support the nation's top innovators and hear what guest speakers from Google and Pixar had to say about global trends, brand and product innovation.

US Award for chair design

The Good Design Award in Chicago earlier this year recognised the company's latest invention, the Perfect Operation Position (POP) task chair. Viewed as an international symbol of a brand's commitment to innovation and superior design, The Good Design Award places emphasis on quality products of the highest form, function, and aesthetics from around the world. The group is now ready for global orders.

"To win two significant awards so early in the year is wonderful news and great encouragement to inspire and drive further innovation within our company," comments Linda Trim, Sales and Marketing Director for AngelShack.

"The company recognises the importance of R&D by investing a substantial amount into its products year-on-year. The POP task chair was a successful collaboration with German industrial designer, Stefan Brodbeck that produced a global product that cleverly combines support, comfort and style, while placing South African design back on the map."

The award winning POP office chair provides full ergonomic support enabling the work team to fulfil a productive and stimulating day at the office.

"Our mission is simple; to be the number one choice for thinking people who want to work in a better world. Why can we not we produce local office furniture that is innovative, easy to order, comfortable and provides support all day long? Our company aspires to be a game changer, which is evident through our world-class ideas all produced here in Johannesburg and now recognised through our collection of local and international awards," she concluded.
